Get THE industry edge at tourism and hospitality careers day
Friday 11 March 2011
The University of Surrey and The Tourism Society will co-host the second annual THE (Tourism, Hospitality and Events) Careers Day on Wednesday 30 March 2011.
THE Careers Day allows students to meet with representatives from over 20 influential tourism, hospitality and events companies such as Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, STA Travel, InterContinental Hotels Group, and the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (LOCOG).
Funded by the University’s Division of Hospitality and Tourism Management and the Savoy Educational Trust, the event is free and open to university students, alumni and the public. Professor Andrew Lockwood, Head of Division of Hospitality and Tourism Management, says: “We wanted to enhance our offering to students and underline our position by supporting THE Careers Day event.”
The event is organised primarily by students from the Surrey Tourism and Events Society (STES). Sammy Li, STES Director of Industry and Alumni Relations, says: “The inaugural event was really well received by both companies and students. It’s even bigger this year. We’ve specifically invited some of the larger hotel groups. And we’ve opened up THE Careers Day to our alumni, particularly those who have graduated in the past five years and who are still exploring their career paths.”
