University of Surrey rises up the league tables
Tuesday 17 May 2011
The University of Surrey is delighted to have risen to 19th place in the Guardian newspaper’s University league table, released this week.
The league table is part of the Guardian’s University Guide, which is published annually as a guide to all UK universities ranked according to teaching excellence.
The Guide is essentially used by prospective undergraduate students and their parents to make informed decisions about University choice.
Surrey has been ranked number 19 ahead of other Universities such as Glasgow and King’s College London, and a notch ahead of its place last year.
Further to this, the University was ranked number one in the country for ‘Tourism, transport and travel’ subjects, and joint fourth for sociology with Warwick and Lancaster.
Vice-Chancellor of the University of Surrey, Professor Chris Snowden, commented:
“The ranking is indicative of the University’s continual progression and improvement in teaching excellence and student experience. Surrey graduates have the strongest track record of employability in the country, helped in part by the Professional Training Year which the majority of our students take part in. All these factors make Surrey a very attractive option for those considering place of study for their degree.”
