Surrey retains top spot for graduate employment

Graduates from the University of Surrey remain the most employable in the UK, according to a new report published by HESA (the Higher Education Statistics Agency).

HESA’s annual survey – which looks into career paths taken by graduates leaving UK Universities or colleges – has revealed that of full-time, first degree students leaving Surrey in 2009/10, 94.8% of them are in employment or further study six months on since graduating.

Surrey has an unrivalled track record for employability dating back over a decade. Well known for its high rate of graduate employability the University been described as ‘The University for Jobs’ given that it has retained the top spot for ‘leading’ Universities (including Russell Group, 1994 Group and English Chartered Group of Higher Educational Institutes) for a number of years.

The University prides itself in its successful Professional Training Year Scheme which around 50% of all students take advantage of, and strong links with industry, equipping its graduates with the experience, confidence and know-how to make the transition from student to professional effectively.
