University’s steady success in poll of students
Wednesday 17 August 2011
Students have given a strong vote of confidence in the University of Surrey in a new national satisfaction survey.
The National Student Survey (NSS) is an annual poll which asks all final year students across the UK about their experience of life at universities which assesses a range of factors from academic support to learning resources.
Nationally, 129 institutions were judged by the student survey with “overall satisfaction” scores ranging from 94 percent to 69 percent.
This year the University of Surrey achieved and 87 percent score in “overall satisfaction” – up 5 percent from last year’s survey.
Sam Ratzer, Vice-President at the Students’ Union, said: “The University has worked alongside the Students’ Union to improve services to students. This poll result shows that the University has listened and improved.
“At the Union, we are all too aware that the changes to the fees and funding system for Universities will increase the pressure on the University to deliver.”
Professor Chris Snowden, the University’s Vice-Chancellor, said: “We are pleased that we have risen yet further in the poll of students’ satisfaction but we are determined to continue to improve to meet the aspirations and expectations of our students.
“We want all our students to feel they have been given the best opportunity to succeed and by having the resources and academic support to do so.”
