Bionic Vet to set to ‘Inspire Futures’ of Surrey students
Monday 14 May 2012
Noel Fitzpatrick, BBC ONE’s ‘Bionic Vet’ is getting geared up to deliver an inspirational talk to students as part of the University of Surrey's 'Inspiring Futures' series, on Monday 21 May.
Noel is a neuro-orthopaedic veterinary surgeon, a pioneer of bionic development in animals and great advocate of broadening horizons and realising aspirations. His talk will focus on how best to realise one's potential, irrespective of what subject background students come from. Noel feels passionately that individuals should not feel pigeon holed by their studies, and that they should be encouraged to pursue all aspirations in life.
Noel’s philosophy is that if an individual has a reason big enough to follow a particular ambition then they should be encouraged to do and is a prime example of someone who has taken his own advice to heart. Starting out in veterinary science, he then pursued his acting ambitions – playing roles in the Bill, Heartbeat and Casualty amongst others – before returning to his science and veterinary roots, spending almost a decade striving to build what has now become one of the most advanced veterinary practices in the world.
The event is open to students, University staff, the media, members of the public who may be focussing on developing their career, perhaps changing their career or for people would like to listen to a truly inspirational talk on how to reach your potential, whatever subject background you’re from.
The event will take place on Monday 21 May at 1800 – 2000 and places can be booked through the University of Surrey website at www.surrey.ac.uk/careers/noelfitzpatrick
