Student survey reveals highest ever satisfaction score at Surrey
Wednesday 26 September 2012
In this year's National Student Survey (NSS) the University of Surrey registered its highest ever overall rating with 90% of students expressing satisfaction with the quality of their course. The annual survey published today (Thursday 27 September) revealed that the overall satisfaction rate has increased by three points, from 87% in 2011 to 90% this year. As a result, Surrey has risen 17 places to 15th place in the overall table.
The University has seen rises in all seven areas: Teaching, Academic Support, Assessment and Feedback, Organisation & Management, Learning Resources, Personal Development and Overall Satisfaction. 17 subjects are ranked in the Top 10 nationally; Politics, Aerospace Engineering and Music are all ranked 1st.
Professor Sir Christopher Snowden, President and Vice- Chancellor of the University of Surrey, commented: "We are delighted that our students rate their experience at Surrey so highly. This is a testament to how hard the University has been working not only to meet students' needs, but to surpass their expectations and deliver an outstanding student experience.
"We work very closely with the Students’ Union to deliver improvements in student satisfaction. Over the past two years we have implemented a new student experience strategy, which includes a £13.2 million Library and Learning Centre open 24 hours a day, and a major overhaul of our ‘student welcome' week."
Over the last few years the University has dramatically strengthened its league table position consistently across all the main university league tables, including The Guardian, The Times, and the Sunday Times.
