The Vice-Chancellor was recently interviewed by The Independent newspaper around how the university has managed to increase its number of applications for undergraduate places.

Following an announcement in January of this year about how the number of applications for Surrey undergraduate courses starting in 2013 are up 38%, the Vice-Chancellor was interviewed by The Independent newspaper around how this has happened.

The most recent figures suggest a record year for student applications for the University, even trumping applications for 2010/11 which saw a dramatic increase across the country from those wanting to avoid the change in tuition fees.

The University has had a strategy of raising entry standards over the past seven years and the average A level entry last year was ‘AAB’ across the University. Simultaneously the University has invested in world-class staff, teaching, learning and research facilities and now has one of the best student experiences in the UK, as evidenced by the National Student Survey (NSS).

Surrey courses in particularly high demand for 2013 include Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Biosciences, Business, Economics, English, law and Politics.
