Surrey music academic in collaboration with Andrew Lloyd Webber
Wednesday 20 March 2013
Professor Steve Goss, from University of Surrey's School of Arts, has been collaborating with composer Andrew Lloyd Webber on a guitar arrangement of material from Lloyd Webber’s new musical, Stephen Ward. The piece will be unveiled during ITV’s star-studded tribute to Andrew Lloyd Webber and performed by award-winning guitarist Miloš Karadaglic. It will be the first time that any of the music from the show is heard in public.
Stephen Ward was a key figure in the Profumo scandal which rocked the British government in the early 1960s. The arrangement will be released by Deutsche Grammophon to coincide with the show.
The TV show, celebrating Lloyd Webber’s spectacular 40 year career, will air on Easter Sunday night, 31 March, 6:30pm on the UK’s ITV. The 90-minute special will also feature Simon Cowell, Nicole Scherzinger, Myleene Klass, Tim Minchin, Melanie C, Sir Michael Caine, Sir Alex Ferguson, and Michael Ball.
