Surrey has 3rd fastest UK car

The University of Surrey team took part in this year's Formula Student competition, held at Silverstone racetrack from 16th-19th July 2009 and were the 3rd best 'new entry' car.
In total, 105 Universities from 23 countries were represented. The event consisted of 3 presentations and 4 track events (acceleration, skid pad, sprint and endurance economy). This was Surrey's first year of Class 1 competition and we were the 3rd best 'new entry' car (coming 13th out of 35th UK cars and 35th out of a total of 82 worldwide entries). This is a remarkable achievement for a first time entry. Another notable achievement was being placed 14th out of 82 in the acceleration event, the 3rd fastest UK car! The 69m track was covered in only 3.9 secs from a standing start.
