MMA Professor receives honorary doctorate in Paris

Professor John Watts, an expert in materials science, has received a Doctorate Honoris Causa from Universite Paris Diderot.

Professor Watts received the doctorate at a formal ceremony in Paris on 1 December 2011. For the past 20 years, Professor Watts has collaborated with Universite Paris Diderot on the surface analysis of materials relevant to adhesion science and technology.

The Universite Paris Diderot derives from the old Faculty of Sciences at the University of Paris, an institution founded in the 12th Century. It ranks among the top universities in France.

Professor Watts says that “the doctorate is a reflection on the many talented researchers that I have been fortunate to work with over the last 20 or so years, particularly those of French origins.”
