Biography
I qualified as a dietitian with a Degree in Nutrition from the University of Surrey
Since then I have worked in the NHS both in England and Scotland, and in Higher Education at Leeds Polytechnic and The University of Surrey.
My main clinical interests have been in working with people who want to lose weight and people with diabetes.
Teaching
I teach on all years of the Nutrition Programmes.
I am particularly interested in preparing dietetic students for their placement education

Professional Commitments
I am a Dietitian registered with the Health Professionals Council .
I was an Alternate Member of the Health Professions Council (HPC) until July 2009 having been involved with the Statutory Body for many years. My main contribution was to the Education and Training Committee.
I have always been involved with the Professional Body - The British Dietetic Association (BDA) - particularly in the area of Education. I have recently been honoured by being made a Fellow of the BDA.
My main contributions have been as:-
- project manager of the group that developed the new work based training scheme for student dietitians
- member of the group that developed the HPC Standards of Proficiency for Dietitians,
- member of the group that developed the Benchmark Statements for dietetic programmes
- member of the group that developed the HPC Standards of Proficiency for Psychologists
I am Chair of the University Dietetic Education Group
