The University of Surrey's Astrophysics research group started in 2013, and teaches the popular "Physics with Astronomy" course
The research focuses on solving key problems in modern astrophysics: How do stars and galaxies form? What are dark matter and dark energy? How did the Milky Way form and evolve? And how did supermassive black holes form?
The staff expertise is in computational/theoretical astrophysics and observational astronomy
We operate a 16 inch teaching and outreach telescope on the Stag Hill Campus
