CERN Speed of Light result: “I’ll Eat My Shorts”
Sunday 25 September 2011
Surrey Professors Jim Al-Khalili and Paddy Regan have been speaking on the BBC about the news from CERN that neutrinos may be able to travel faster than the speed of light.
On Newsnight Jim Al-Khalili described the controversy of this latest result from the CERN Opera collaboration, and offered to "eat his shorts" live on TV if it is proven correct that neutrinos have exceeded the speed of light.

Similarly, Paddy Regan described on BBC1 News the huge impact that this result would have on the international physics community, if it were proven to be correct. However until the CERN data can be convincingly explained, physicists are going to carry on believing in Einstein’s famous E=mc2 equation.
