The 11th International Bologna Conference on Magnetic Resonance in Porous Media (MRPM11) will be hosted from Sunday 9th to Thursday 13th September 2012 by the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences at the University of Surrey, Guildford UK.

The conference series addresses the development and application of magnetic resonance techniques to porous media and regularly attracts delegates from both academia and industry across the world.  Application areas of interest include: innovative techniques and applications to study structure; behaviour of fluids and their interactions in natural and artificial materials, including rocks, cements, biological tissues, foodstuffs, wood, particle packs, sediments, pharmaceuticals, zeolites and bioconstructs; new data acquisition and processing techniques, sensitivity enhancement and mobile MR will also be strong features.  The conference will include the 12th Colloquium on Mobile NMR (CMMR12).

The Giulio Cesare Borgia Prize for Young Researchers will be awarded to the emerging scientist who, based on a presentation to the community at the conference, shows greatest promise for future scientific leadership. The Prize has been established in memory of the contribution made by Giulio Cesare Borgia to the development of Magnetic Resonance in Porous Media and for the particular attention he always paid to the enthusiasm, passion, and courage of young people who undertook the difficult and adventurous path of scientific investigation in this fascinating area of research.

MRPM11 is organised under the auspices of the Groupement AMPERE working in association with the Alma Mater Studiorum University of Bologna.

A local organising committee is being established under the chairmanship of Peter McDonald (University of Surrey).  This committee will work closely with the MRPM Scientific Advisory Committee and the Steering Committee chaired by Siegfried Stapf (Technischen Universität Ilmenau).
