A summary of past and current research and a more detailed outline of research planned to be executed here at the University of Surrey will be presented. Targeted areas include, hybrid organic-inorganic photovoltaics and non-linear optics, along with dynamic light-up smart polymers. Using synthetic organic chemical methodologies new molecular systems will be built. Themes from experimental and theoretical physical organic chemistry will then be implemented to study the fundamental behavior of these molecules. Later, the study of the emergent supramolecular phenomena will direct the construction of complex materials.
