Students publish their Professional Training Year work in a science journal

Ed Leming and Scott Jarvis, both undergraduates of the Department have their work published in an international journal.
Ed and Scott both worked during the Professional Training Year of their BSc degrees at the National Physical Laboratory (NPL) in Middlesex. Ed was at NPL during 2008/2009 while Scott is at NPL 2009/2010. The paper is entitled "Verification of Diffusive and Pumped Samplers for Volatile Organic Compounds using a Controlled Atmosphere Test Facility" and presents work on new techniques to measure what are known a volatile organic compounds that are potentially damaging products of the oil industry. The journal is the peer-reviewed journal "Atmospheric Environment", which is internationally respected for publishing some of the best work on measuring and understanding air pollution.
