Three members of the Physics Department are off to the British Science Festival in Birmingham next week.
On Friday, Prof Jim Al-Khalili, a trustee of the British Science Association, who run the festival, is organising and chairing an event on the history of the Royal Society, which is celebrating its 350th anniversary this year.
Also celebrating an anniversary this year is the laser, which was invented 50 years ago. Surrey's Professor and leading laser specialist Stephen Sweeney is talking about his work in the session "Lasers: Celebrating 50 Years of the Light Fantastic"
Surrey's Dr Paul Stevenson is the British Science Association's Recorder for their Physics and Astronomy Section. As such, he's involved in organising several events. Catch him talking about the latest news from the world of nuclear physics on Wednesday.
