Surrey student on sandwich year at UK's air traffic control
Wednesday 6 October 2010
Sonya Card, a student here in the Department, is spending the 2010/2011 academic working for National Air Traffic Services (NATS), UK's air traffic controllers. All BSc students have the option of a paid sandwich year between their second and third years of study. She has just started but already has worked on Infringements, where an aircraft makes an unauthorised entry into airspace. See here for Sonya's experiences so far at NATS. All students in the Department are offered a sandwich year, which we call a Professional Training Year.
