AS students visit the department

Tuesday 26 October 2010

A class of year 12 students from St Peter's Catholic Comprehensive in Guildford, visited the department for a day to find out what it would be like to do physics at University.

The students had a lecture from Prof Paddy Regan, a practical session in our new undergraduate laboratories, lunch on campus and a tour of the Space Centre.  This opportunity allowed the students to see how teaching at university is different from school and meet some of our professors.  The practical session allowed them to use equipment that they do not have access to at school.  They all enjoyed the day and most of them said that the activity had encouraged them to think about studying physics at university.
