This year all but one of our third-year MPhys students is undertaking their Research Year off campus. The student working on campus is sponsored by the Rapiscan company. Geographically, the nearest placement is at the National Physical Laboratory at Teddington in nearby Middlesex, while the furthest is at the TRIUMF laboratory for particle and nuclear physics near Vancouver, Canada. We also have a student working at Clausthal in Germany. Students are now starting work in labs at some of the best known Universities in the world, such as Yale in the USA, and leading international labs such as TRIUMF, Oak Ridge National Lab in the USA and the UK's Rutherford Appleton Lab. Each year our MPhys coordinator, Prof Paddy Regan, places our students in these leading labs, and many go on to do research which is published in the scientific literature.
