KFC win Physics Department 5-aside Football Tournament!
On Wednesday, 11th May UG, MSc, PhD students and members of staff took part in the Department 5-aside football tournament at the Surrey Sports Park. There were twelve teams in total and the winning team KFC, led by Fouad Abolaban, PhD student, was only put together a few hours before the kick-off at 2pm. Fouad is centre of the picture proudly holding the winning shield.
The Physics staff team led by Dr Alan Dalton pictured below (seated second from the right) alongside one of the UG teams led by Louise Weller, L1 student (fourth from the right. The staff team were pleased to make it to the quarter finals without serious injuries before being knocked out!
The Photonics team led by Professor Stephen Sweeney, fourth from the left were also knocked out in the early stages of the tournament.
