Jim Al-Khalili discusses the Higgs Boson on the BBC

Professor Jim Al-Khalili talked to the BBC's Pallab Ghosh about what the Higgs boson is and why confirming its existence is so important for physicists

Following CERN’s announcement on 4th July of the discovery of the Higgs boson, Jim has been at the BBC explaining the meaning and significance of this new particle

And in case there remains any doubt amongst the public, Jim is absolutely sure that this result is the real thing; "It's the Higgs, the announcement from CERN is even more definitive and clear-cut than most of us expected.”
