Interested in studying for a PhD in a fast growing area of physics that stretches from polymer solar cells to the interface with biology?
As we carry out interdisciplinary research, we welcome applicants from a variety of academic backgrounds in addition to physics. Some of our PhD students have undergraduate degrees in materials science, chemistry, engineering and mathematics.
Students typically apply in spring or summer and start in October, but we welcome enquiries at any time. Each year we have funds to support a small number of UK students with a good degree (upper-second class or first class). There is a limited number of scholarships offered on a competitive basis to the very best applicants from overseas. Our group is quite international, and we have had members from all across Europe, USA, Thailand, Malaysia, and China.
