Why Physics at Surrey?

We offer undergraduate, postgraduate masters and postgraduate research programmes in Physics, bringing together the best of Physics and leading-edge research to provide our graduates with one of the best employability rates in the country.

Surrey is referred to as 'the University for Jobs' by the Sunday Times and is highly rated in national league tables and by our own students in the National Student Survey. We offer distinctive undergraduate programmes with either a Research Year or a Professional Training Year. Both are spent off campus with spending their year everywhere from Oxfordshire to Canada.

The Department has some of the largest and longest established taught postgraduate programmes in the UK. For example, we have trained around a third of the NHS's medical physicists and in addition we have trained medical physicists from all over the world. Our courses are taught in part by experienced external lecturers from companies and hospitals, who pass on their knowledge and experience to our students, making them highly sought after graduation. The Department's wide ranging research programmes also allow us to offer exciting PhD opportunities, in many areas of both pure and applied physics.
