Our Politics Project: We are interested in engaging our general audience to think about the indirect route of the acquisition of insights and practical information regarding science and technology via popular television shows. We focus on issues such as climate change, population growth, food and water supplies, developments in health, medical and forensic technology. We match the content of popular TV-dramas shows, with interviews of television audiences which demonstrate how learning takes place in our every day lives, even in entertainment related contexts. Contrary to conventional thinking which sees entertainment television as devoid of informational content, we show that watching TV-dramas enhances audiences' understanding of the political world, facilitates the formulation of opinions about debates on science and technology and stimulates discussion.
