Thursday 4 June 2009

Commencing Sepember 2009, the Politics Department launches four new joint and four new combined degrees of Politics & Languages.

These programmes offer students the opportunity to gain a B.A. which combines expertise in politics, a competent command of foreign languages and an understanding of intercultural communication.

The programmes are designed for post A-level or equivalent full-time students who are interested in politics and hold A-levels in German, French, or Spanish. In addition international students with a high level of proficiency in English can select a pathway in English for International Communication.

The programmes allow students to enhance their study of political phenomena and at the same time to study a language in its socio-political and cultural contexts by completing a placement year at year 3 at an institution of the country related to their focus of study.

There is no requirement for A-Levels in Politics, but a Grade B is required for the appropriate language at A levels or equivalent. An IELTS of 6.5 or equivalent is required.
