I have a research interest in patterns of European migration and I am particularly interested in an interaction between the micro(individual) level  and the state.  What interests me, is the notion of nationalism and its influence on the creation of national identity in migrant communities, which shifts in the process of moving across national boundaries.  I am specifically interested in how women experience and process these things differently to men and how the creation of migration policies is highly gendered.  My work is mainly based on theoretical explanations of these notions, but for any data collection I predominantly use qualitative research methods.
