Summary
Doctor Jason Abbott joined the university in August 2007, after previously holding positions as a Teaching Fellow in the Department of Politics at the School of Oriental and African Studies and as Senior Lecturer/Lecturer in International Political Economy at the Department of International Studies, Nottingham Trent University (1995-2002).
Research Interests
Doctor Abbott is an expert on the politics and international relations of Southeast Asia, with special reference to the government and politics of Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand. He also works on international political economy (specifically issues surrounding development) and democratization. He is an experienced broadcaster and has provided interviews to a range of media organizations, including the BBC, CNN, Al-Jazeera and Voice of America.
