Smart campus
Big results from small satellites
The internet can do so much more than just delivering webpages. And we’re proving it, right here at Surrey.
Our Centre for Communication Systems Research (CCSR) is equipping our campus with a network linking 3,000 sensors and actuators via the cloud.
This Smart Campus network will automatically monitor and control everything from room occupation to energy usage, with real-time 3D virtual-reality feedback integrating the digital and real worlds. This will turn the University into a live test-bed for future ideas, as well as a nicer place to live and work.
And this is just the start. CCSR is also involved in a multinational project to install a smart network that will eventually cover the whole of Santander in Spain, making it the first truly smart city.
This Smart Campus network will turn the University into a live test-bed for future ideas.
