MSc Operations and Logistics Management
The MSc Operations and Logistics Management is a postgraduate degree in business and management with a focus on theoretical and practical skills. It is of particular relevance if you have recently completed an undergraduate degree in business management or engineering.
The programme provides the theoretical framework and practical skills that management professionals working in multinational corporations need in order to cope with an increasingly complex and global supply management environment. This is achieved by delivering the programme using an integrated approach with business management modules.
The Operations and Logistics Management programme at Surrey has two important benefits that distinguish it from similar programmes elsewhere. Firstly, we offer you training in the SAP system, the world-leading enterprise software suite. SAP experience is in high demand but very difficult to obtain at the graduate level. Our alliance with SAP ensures that you will be thoroughly acquainted with this important software application. Secondly, this programme offers a wider range of business and management-orientated modules than any other operations and logistics management programme, to make sure you are fully aware of the core management functions.
This programme comprises eight compulsory modules and a dissertation. Students will take four modules each semester plus a final dissertation module.
Entry standards
Applicants should usually hold a Bachelors degree (UK Lower Second/2.2) or above or equivalent qualification from a recognised British/overseas university. However, every applicant is assessed individually on their own merit. Higher level professional qualifications may also be accepted. Relevant work experience could be an additional benefit where applicants have not reached the standard entry requirements, although it is not an admissions requirement for this particular degree programme.
As a result of their high popularity, we have successfully secured further places for our postgraduate programmes in this area. We are therefore extending our deadline for submission of applications to 31 May 2012. Applications received after this date will only be considered subject to availability of places.
English language requirements
Non-native speakers of English will normally be required to have IELTS 6.5 or above, with a minimum of 6.0 in each component (or equivalent).
Please note that the University of Surrey offers English language programmes and is also an IELTS Test Centre.

Focusing on the theoretical, as well as practical, aspects of operations and logistics management, this MSc programme offers training in the world–leading enterprise software, SAP.
The Operations and Logistics Management programme is useful for today’s business. The programme has given me insight into business as well as the vision to play an active role in the multinational environment.

MSc Operations and Logistics Management
The Operations and Logistics Management programme at Surrey has a great reputation. I wanted a place I could come and get all I need to become an expert in this field and the Surrey programme offers just that.
The SAP training that students are given is crucial in providing an advantage in the marketplace. SAP is one of the world’s biggest enterprise resource planning systems and to have knowledge of that gives people an edge.
Throughout my MSc studies I’ve developed a good understanding of management, particularly in the project management and logistics management areas. I now see things a little different from the way I used to. It’s easier for me to spot a risk or a potential advantage. It’s also easier for me to strategise more efficient ways of executing tasks.
What I enjoy most about my programme is the interaction with other students when we work on projects together. It has exposed me to the benefits of collective thinking. I’ve come to realise that there’s more to being a good manager than just knowing the facts. You need people, their opinions, their criticisms, and you need to work through these and get the job done.
In addition to my studies, I’m also a programme representative at the Staff–Student Liaison Committee. We meet twice a semester to raise and discuss any concerns that students and staff have and work out solutions to improve the learning experience.
