Working Abroad

Students at the University of Surrey not only have the opportunity to take a work placement as part of their degree, but many students choose to take a placement abroad. Students have taken work placements all across the globe including places in Europe, North America, Asia and Australasia.

The placements available depend on the course undertaken and also the availability of an internship. Our interactive map shows the countries where Surrey students have taken work placements in the year 2009-2010. Use the map to explore the potential placements available abroad.

Visit our language support and ERASMUS pages to find out more about the additional support available to students taking placements abroad.

"Why should students go abroad for placement? Because in addition to all of the qualities of carrying out a placement in the UK, such as industrial experience, career progression and meeting new people foreign placements also give you a fantastic insight into the culture and language, chances to visit famous European landmarks and cities and looks great on your CV"
