Biography

I joined the Department of Psychology in October 2008 as a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Cognitive Neuroscience Research Team (CNRT), following the completion of my PhD in the use Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (MRS) in characterisation of childhood brain tumours at the University of Birmingham.

I have a range of interests in the use of neuroimaging techniques, but the two main focuses of my current research:

Using MRS to better understand the link between brain metabolite and female sex hormones

The application of MRS in the assessment of chronic post-concussion syndrome following a mild traumatic brain injury

Research Interests

The primary purpose of my research is to understand the link between brain metabolites and cognition.

Main Research Findings

Brain metabolites are modulated by progesterone in young women

Those having experienced an mTBI with post concussion syndrome show alterations in their brain metabolites over a year post-injury
