Biography
I completed my undergraduate degree at Southampton University focusing my dissertation on the opponent process theory of addiction. Following my BSc I spent two years living in Beijing, teaching English and travelling around South East Asia.
Upon my return, I worked for a private trauma rehabilitation service delivering CBT based telephone interventions for trauma survivors and co-ordinating further psychological treatment where necessary. Whilst working part time I completed my MSc in Health Psychology at Surrey, graduating with distinction in 2012.
Research Interests
My PhD research, funded by The Whiteley Clinic, aims to evaluate five intra-operative distraction techniques and their effects on immediate and longer term outcomes following day surgery under local anaesthetic for venous conditions. A prospective analysis will also be conducted to explore predictors of surgical outcomes and qualitative methodology will be used to explore patient’s experiences of treatment and recovery.
Supervisor: Prof Jane Ogden.
