Research Interests

I am studying for a full-time PhD in Psychology using experimental methods to investigate emotional resilience. Specifically I am focussing on the contribution of individual differences in relation to the fear response and anxiety towards emotional resilience. My research is supported by a departmental bursary from the School of Psychology at Surrey.

I am part of the Brain and Behaviour Research Group.

I first came to Surrey to study for a Masters in Health Psychology, as I went through the year long course I started leaning towards the more cognitive aspects of the course and was also working part time in the Brain and Behaviour Research group which enabled me to move more in that direction. My masters research was an fMRI study looking into the efficacy of an endogenous pain pathway. Before coming to Surrey University I completed my undergraduate psychology degree at the University of Bath where I investigated whether the origin and nature of categorical colour perception is universal or linguistically based.

Teaching

I am part of the academic tutorial team fulfilling the requirements of my faculty bursary. Within this role I essentially mentor a group of first year undergraduate students. I am responsible for marking all of their essays across their first year and not only tutor them in how to be an academic (reading, writing, referencing, critical thinking etc) but I also provide one to one feedback on every essay and am available to them via e-mail at any time and offer drop in sessions if needs be.
