Biography

Pierre Cachia is a Chartered Counselling Psychologist and Registered Psychotherapist. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in psychology at the University of Malta where he later continued his professional training in Counselling Psychology. Subsequently, Pierre completed training to post-graduate diploma level in Gestalt Psychotherapy, Family Therapy (systemic) and Psychotherapy Supervision. He is currently enrolled on the Professional Doctorate in Couple Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy at the Tavistock Centre for Couple Relationships (TCCR) in London.

He runs a private practice where he sees individuals, couples and families in Surrey and also works as a freelance clinician in London. Prior to moving to the UK, Pierre served as a Council member of the Maltese Psychological Association serving as its PRO for a period of five years. He is a founding member of the European Association for Counselling Psychology.

Research Interests

Couple psychotherapy, male psychology, gender issues and gender role dysfunction, the impact of relationships on well-being and mental health, working with relational violence and abuse, attachment theory and supervision.

Teaching

Therapeutic skills training, individual and group supervision, couple psychotherapy and gender issues in the practice of counselling.
