Research Interests
I have been working as long haul cabin crew for 20 years as well studying Psychology part-time for the last 12 years. When I did my Master’s in Health Psychology I became interested in the area of sleep research and the effects of long-haul flying on cabin crew’s well-being. The purpose of my PhD is to provide an understanding of the relationship between ‘objective jet lag’ and ‘subjective jet lag’ and the psycho-behavioural predictors that may mediate this relationship. In addition, I am interested in exploring how cabin crew make sense of their jet lag using the Revised Illness Perception questionnaire (IPQ-R; Moss-Morris et al., 2002) and the role of coping strategies and social support in circadian readjustment to jet lag.
