The Baby Lab Team

Dr. Alexandra Clifford
Ally originally joined the Surrey Baby Lab team in 2002, soon after it was set up by Dr. Anna Franklin. After graduating from the University of Bath with first class honours, she returned to Surrey to work as a research assistant and study for a PhD. During this time Ally conducted research investigating the nature and development of colour categories. Ally is now a lecturer in the School of Psychology and has taken over as the Director of the Surrey Baby Lab. Her research continues to explore aspects of colour perception in infancy and early childhood such as colour preference, colour term acquisition and colour salience. Personal web page.

James Alvarez
James joined the Surrey Baby Lab as a Research Officer working on a project investigating how infants and adults categorise the visual world. He is currently doing a PhD and is interested in how perception and cognition interact to enable us to infer categories in the structure of an environment, and how we can think and reason about categories flexibly.

Gabriella Sherry
Gabriella is an Undergraduate Psychology student at the University of Bath and will be spending the current year working as a research assistant at the Surrey Baby Lab. This forms part of her professional placement year, during which she aims to advance her understanding of developmental research. In particular, Gabriella is interested in the role of colour in recognition and learning and the development of perception.

Chris Delivett
Chris is currently studying for a BSc degree in Psychology at the University of Surrey. He is presently working at the Surrey Baby Lab as a research assistant during his professional placement year. During this time Chris aims to further his understanding of the way in which infants learn to perceive their world. Ultimately he aims to broaden his knowledge of infant development and the processes involved in conducting developmental research.
