MSc Forensic Psychology
Forensic psychology examines psychological theories, methods and processes within the context of the legal, criminal and civil justice systems.

In particular, the course looks at the psychology of criminal behaviour as well as aspects of the investigative process. There is a focus on: (1) the treatment and assessment of violent and sexual offending, especially with offenders who are mentally disordered; (2) criminal investigation theory, research and practice; and (3) legal processes and decision-making. The course considers the variety of contexts in which forensic psychologists might work, including secure mental health hospitals, the prison, police and probation services, the courts, mediation services, as well as defence and security services. There is an emphasis on ethical and professional standards of research and practice.
