Targeted Schemes
A range of Fellowship schemes from AHRC, BBSRC, EPSRC, ESRC, STFC, NIHR, Leverhulme Trust and Wellcome Trust are to be targeted under the strategy, this currently covers 48 schemes expected to be announced in 2011/12.
To assist with eligibility these schemes have been divided into 3 categories:
- Post Doctoral Fellowships: candidates will have completed or are completing a PhD and typically have less than 3 years post doctoral experience. Generally fellowships in this group will not lead to a permanent academic post
- Early/Mid Career Fellowships: for candidates pursuing either a research or academic career. Typically they will have a PhD and some research experience. Applicants may either have an academic post or will be seeking a fellowship that will lead to an academic post
- Established Career Fellowships: for candidates well advanced (eg. head of a research team or group) in their research or academic career
