Surrey Business School is proud to present Professor Pushkar Maitra, University of Monash, Australia to deliver the seminar 'Intermediated Loans: A New Approach to Microfinance'.
Professor Pushkar Maitra has graduated from the University of Southern California and is currently the Director of Research at the University of Monash in Australia. He is now visiting the University of Oxford, which makes it simpler for us to invite him to our seminar series at Surrey Business School. A large part of his research, which is often experimental in nature and/or involves rigorous econometric analysis using large data-sets, has tried to quantify the impact of policy and institutions on various economic agents. He is a prolific researcher and published widely in leading journals including Review of Economic Studies. At Surrey he will present a paper using recently collected field experiment data (jointly written with researchers in Australia, Boston, Hong Kong and India) which focuses on evaluating alternative methods of providing credit to the rural poor.
All welcome.
