Abstract

Case studies have been used in many forms in teaching and have proved a valuable instrument incorporating real world scenarios in the classroom. This seminar will be looking at the use of case studies in teaching and discussing ‘best practice’, providing examples and guidance from experts in the area. It will examine how to best use case studies from a teaching point of view but also how students learn from case studies. This seminar is based on the training workshop ‘Teaching with Cases’ by the ECCH.

This seminar will also focus on the Case Study Method, widely adopted by many business schools. This not only involves the use of Case Studies for teaching but also evaluation of student participation and incorporating discussions in the assessment process.  This is closely linked to general teaching practice and improving student involvement and the challenges associated with it.
