We are excited to announce that Surrey Business School (SBS) has been named one of the key sponsors of Surrey Advertiser’s Toast of Surrey Awards 2013, and will be championing the Young Business of the Year category. Targeting companies that have been trading for less than one year, the Young Business of the Year award will recognise the work of business start-ups, highlighting the achievements of local entrepreneurs who can demonstrate outstanding results in one or more of several areas including innovation, strategic management, financial performance, exemplary customer service and community awareness.

The sponsorship represents a new departure for SBS and one which Head of School Professor David Goss – who also sits on the judging panel - considers to be a reflection of the entrepreneurial direction in which the School is heading:

“The Toast of Surrey Awards provide a tremendous boost to the confidence of the local business community, particularly at a time when trading conditions are challenging and simply surviving becomes the primary goal for many traders. We know from our engagement with local businesses that there is an enormous wealth of enterprise, entrepreneurial endeavour and innovative flair within our community, and we are excited to be joining an organisation that provides a much-needed platform for celebrating this fact.”

Further sponsors and partners of the awards include the Institute of Directors, Surrey Chambers of Commerce, BBC Surrey, Nuffield Health, Surrey County Council, Guildford Borough and Surrey Research Park.

The awards ceremony will take place on Monday, March 7th, 2013 at G Live in Guildford.
