Mr Chris Akerman

Biography

After graduating from Birmingham University with a degree in Chemical Engineering I joined KPMG in London in one of their audit departments specialising in the Oil Industry. Following qualification as a Chartered Accountant I joined BP in their head office in London. During my 13 years at BP I had many different accounting and finance roles based in the UK, Belgium and Australia.  

I joined the University of Surrey in 2008 as a tutor in accounting and I have taught various undergraduate modules in Accounting. My particular academic interest is in management accounting. While here at Surrey I have completed my post graduate teaching qualification.

I am currently the deputy head of the Accounting and Finance Subject Group and am also one of the programme leaders for the Accounting and Finance degree programme.
