Biography

Fotios Pasiouras holds a bachelor's degree in Economics (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece), an MBA in Finance (Coventry University, UK) and a PhD (Coventry University, UK). He also completed the Teaching Development Programme at the University of Bath (UK).

He has taught at various institutions including the University of Bath, EADA Business School (Spain), Hellenic Open University (Greece), and Technical University of Crete (Greece) and has been a Visiting Fellow at the Centre for Governance & Regulation at the University of Bath School of Management.  Other posts include a Visiting Research Scholar at the Centre for Financial and Risk Management at Audencia Nantes School of Management (France), a Co-Director of Research at the Financial Engineering Laboratory at Technical University of Crete, an Honorary Research Fellow of the Faculty of Business, Environment & Society at Coventry University, a Visiting Scholar at the Lally School of Management & Technology at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (USA), a Foreign Research Fellow at the Central Bank of Indonesia, and  Consultant to the Organization for Economic Cooperation & Development (OECD).

Since January 2010, he has been a Co-Coordinator of the EURO Working Group on Efficiency & Productivity Analysis (EWG-EPA), which is part of the European Operational Research Society. He is also General Secretary of the Financial Engineering and Banking Society.

He has served as a referee, editorial board member, and guest editor for several academic journals. He is the Founding Editor and one of the Editors-in-Chief of the International Journal of Banking, Accounting and Finance.

Research Interests

Fotios's current research focuses on efficiency, risk, and regulations in the banking and insurance industries.
He has published more than fifty papers in well-known international journals including: Journal of Money, Credit & Banking; Journal of Banking & Finance; Journal of Business Research; Financial Markets, Institutions & Instruments; European Journal of Operational Research; Omega-The International Journal of Management Science, etc. His latest book, “Greek Banking: From The Pre-Euro Reforms to the Financial Crisis and Beyond”, was published by Palgrave Macmillan in June 2012.
