Biography
James joined the School in 1995, moving from the London Institute’s Distributive Trades College. He has made a substantial contribution to the development of retail management teaching, both on full-time programmes and in partnership with industry organisations. James has been the programme leader for Business and Retail Management and was Director of Undergraduate Studies in the School for seven years.
Prior to his move into higher education, James worked for the co-operative sector in food retail operations. He maintains an interest in the co-operative movement and has held elected representative posts in the South East region. James was a previous editor of the Journal of Co-operative Studies.
In 2011, James was elected for a three year term to the Surrey and Berkshire Area Committee of the Co-operative Group, as a representative of the consumer membership.
