Biography
Joanne graduated from the University of Sheffield with a First Class Honours degree in Accounting and Finance and gained the International Student Scholarship Award. She pursued an MSc in Management from the University of Oxford, and an MPhil and PhD in Finance from the University of Cambridge (entitled: ‘How Private Equity invests in M&A Market’). She also studied professional qualifications - CFA (The Chartered Financial Analyst), CAIA (Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst) and ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants).
Prior to arriving at Surrey, Joanne was a Lecturer/Tutor in Accounting and Finance at The London School of Economics, and Coventry University (London campus). Her industry experience includes positions as Strategic Advisory (M&A) at Dresdner Kleinwort Investment Banking, Investment Associate specialising in Private Equity at Telereal Trillium plc and Special Investments of the Singapore Government Investment Corporation. She also did research and consulting works for CRU Strategies, the Bank of China and OSA International.
Research Interests
Joanne’s research interests include private equity, mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, corporate governance, venture capital/angel capital, company valuation, corporate financial performance evaluation and value creation.
