Biography
Laura Costanzo is a Lecturer in Strategic Management at the Surrey Business School, University of Surrey. Prior to joining the University of Surrey, Laura was a research fellow at the International Institute of Banking and Financial Services, The University of Leeds. Prior to fully joining academia, she worked for a major American international consulting company in several European offices, including the UK and France. Laura holds a PhD in management from Leeds University Business School, the University of Leeds; she is fluent in English, Italian (native language) and French and has basic language skills in Spanish. Alongside her academic career, Laura also advises both public listed companies in the telecommunication and financial services sectors and non-profit organizations on issues of strategy and innovation. She teaches Strategy and Innovation Management on several PG programmes on campus and also supervises a number of PhD, DBA and EngD projects. Her research has received a number of international awards.
Research Interests
Laura’s current research interests are in the areas of strategy, innovation management, top management team’s dynamics and strategic decision-making, strategic foresight, social innovation and innovation processes within global firms. She supervises a number of PhD, DBA, EngD, MBA, MSc, and UG theses on these topics.
Research Collaborations
Laura is currently the academic co-supervisor of the project “Management of global business change requirements from expanding environmental and sustainability regulation” in collaboration with Rolls-Royce and the Centre for Environmental Strategy at the School of Civil, Chemical and Environmental Engineering (University of Surrey). The project is jointly funded by the EPSRC and Rolls-Royce.

Laura is a Scholar of the Advanced Institute of Management (AIM) and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a Member of ITP Network (International Schools of Business Management). She is the Chief Examiner for the Strategic Management in Financial Services at the Institute of Financial Services, London and external examiner at various UK and overseas business schools.
