Biography

My work over the past 26 years has focused on helping individuals realize their potential. I have worked with many different organisations across a wide variety of sectors and have over 12 years of experience in Higher Education. My specialisms relate to Learning from Experience and Employability.

Having spent the past 5 years embedding professional development, graduate employability and e-portfolios into the undergraduate management academic programmes, I now lead the Faculty Professional Development and Employability team. The team is focused on supporting the undergraduate students, developing mutually beneficial links with Employers and Professional Bodies; and continuing to share good practice and ideas with the rest of the university and other Higher Education Institutions.

I am always happy to talk to people who share our passion for helping students enhance their employability.

Teaching

With my 2 colleagues and a team of Associate staff we run the Professional Development thread modules for all the management students.

Departmental Duties

As Director of Professional Development & Employability for the Faculty I am responsible for ensure our academic programmes support students on their journey towards becoming young professionals. These responsibilities include the world renowned Surrey Professional Training Scheme.

I am a leading member of the central university Professional Training and Careers Committee (PTCC) and am also involved in the continuous improvement of the Faculty’s approaches to learning and teaching through my membership of the Faculty Learning and Teaching Committee.
