Biography
Manthos is a Professor of Financial Economics and Banking. He holds a BA in Economics from the University of Western Ontario, and an MSc from York University in Toronto. He completed his PhD thesis in 2007 in the Department of International and European Economic Studies at Athens University of Economics and Business. He has previously held posts at the University of Ioannina (Lecturer) and at Cass Business School (Senior Lecturer). In December 2009 he was included in the list of IDEAS as one of the top one hundred young economists in the world.

Research Interests
Manthos has a wide spectrum of research interests, mainly within the fields of Financial Economics and Banking. His thesis focused on the performance, efficiency and market power of the banking sector, but more recent studies analyse elements of bank and firm risk, financial stability, regulation and the role of banks in monetary and macroeconomic outcomes. He has had papers published in journals like the Journal of Money, Credit and Banking, Journal of Development Economics, the Review of Finance, the Journal of Banking and Finance, Omega, the European Journal of Operational Research, Public Choice, etc. He is a referee in many of these and other journals.
