Biography
Paul Guest is a Professor in Accounting and Finance and head of the Finance and Accounting subject group at Surrey Business School. Prior to his appointment at Surrey, he was a Reader in Accounting and Finance at Birkbeck College London (2010-2012), a lecturer at Cranfield School of Management (2007-09) and Judge Business School (2000-07).
Paul holds a PhD from the University of Cambridge, an MPhil in Economics (distinction) from the University of Cambridge, and a BSc in Economics (distinction) from the University of East London. His research focuses on the determinants and effects of mergers and acquisitions and the determinants and effects of corporate governance structures. He has published his research in leading journals such as Journal of Corporate Finance, Journal of Business Finance and Accounting, Economica, Accounting and Business Research, Cambridge Journal of Economics and the European Journal of Finance.
Paul is a Research Associate at the Centre for Business Research (University of Cambridge) and the London Centre for Corporate Governance and Ethics (University of London). He has acted as an independent consultant to companies on both valuation and M&A, and acts as an external examiner for the University of Cambridge.
